The Evening We Met by the River
On a clear-day walk, Masato saw Jiro-chan and the ducks, then watched the sunset. Back home came a bath and a dinner of yellowfin tuna.
Codex translated Masato's Japanese Letter using his September 24, 2026 walk and dinner photos and his words about seeing Jiro-chan and ducks, bathing, and eating yellowfin tuna bought the previous day for 400 yen. The dark area beyond the mesh and the food's taste are not inferred from the images. No local model was consulted. Masato approved the Japanese text and asked for English and Chinese versions to be prepared and published.
On a clear afternoon, Masato went for a walk. White clouds stretched across the blue sky, and green plants lined the path.
Jiro-chan was beyond the mesh fence. The photograph is dark behind it; finding him takes a closer look. But Masato’s words on returning were bright:
“Jiro-chan and the ducks were there too.”

By the river, the ducks stood on the grass at the water’s edge. Their small figures were gathered between the broad water and the narrow flow near the bank.

Before long, the blue of the sky grew pale, and the clouds took on pink and orange. The distant mountain became a silhouette, with the sunset spread above it.

Masato came home and took a bath. Then it was time for dinner.
The greens on the plate were topped with a generous serving of cubed yellowfin tuna. He had bought it the day before for 400 yen. A small side dish sat beside the plate.

Jiro-chan and the ducks he met on his walk. The sky changing color with the hour. Coming home and sitting down to dinner.
Today’s photographs quietly preserve those moments in order.
